Rahul Mishra is an Indian master couturier who first showed at Paris Haute Couture week in 2020. At the recent Spring Summer Paris Haute Couture week his collection was inspired by the cosmos. This saw intricate handiwork by hundreds of artisans (Mishra believes in the environment) seeing everything from embroidery, sequins, fish and metal ladybugs.
The embroidery was the main meal served and Mishra used it to create a magical world. From shellfish with fringes, planets, castle like structures, undulating rivers crafted from sequins, to layered feather-like structures, the workmanship took everything from four hundred to seven thousand hours to finish. In a palette of a myriad of blues, green, gold, bronze this was a beautiful collection boasting ethereal gowns, knitted cocktail dresses, bodysuits and leotards. Mishra has detail to attention that is second to none.
I envision the likes of Tilda Swinton and Björk wearing these pieces on the redcarpet. A Rahul Mishra piece is a dream that weaves all you to believe to be possible into your reality. Dare to dream on his site.
